The Department of Pharmacy was established in 1982, then housed at the Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry and initiated four years B-Pharmacy program. Currently the department offers five years Pharm-D program. Additionally the Department started postgraduate training program in the field of pharmaceutical sciences in year 1999-2000 to award M.Phil/PhD degrees. Pharmacy is concerned with the art and science of preparing medicines from natural and synthetic sources, suitable and convenient for use in the treatment and prevention of diseases. It is the knowledge of identification, selection, isolation, combination, analysis, standardization, pharmacological actions, prevention and safe uses of drugs and medicines, therefore Department is producing legally qualified and professionally competent pharmacists required for hospitals, pharmaceutical industries, research organizations, Teaching Institutions, Community Pharmacies retail Pharmacies and Quality Control laboratories. Their services are essential in all the health services organizations.

The Department of Pharmacy aims becoming a leading centre of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Global level which

Our Mission

Towards actualizing the Department’s vision, we intend to undertake following endeavors

  1. Enhancing the status of the Department to the Faculty of Pharmacy
  2. Reforming the Contemporary curriculum of pharmacy and integrating it with future needs of profession at par with the advanced countries.
  3. Initiating extensive clinical pharmacy practice for Pharm-D students at various hospitals.
  4. Imitating pharmacy residency program at post Pharm-D level as practiced in advanced countries.
  5. Strengthening our research activities at M.Phil & PhD levels in all disciplines of Pharmacy.
  6. Producing better quality professionals, intellectuals and scholars in the field of pharmacy to serve as agents of comprehensive and balanced progress as well as sustainable development specifically in Pakistan and the whole world in general.

Welcome to the Department of Pharmacy! It is my privilege to serve as Chairman for this prestigious department and the collection of faculty, staff, and students that make up the pharmacy family. As Chairman, I am proud to share information about our programs, faculty members and students. Since 1983, our department has made enormous strides in meeting the specific needs of both students and patients, exploring new frontiers in drug discovery and development, pharmaceutical sciences, and translational clinical research. Our university is one of the leading universities to develop your career and become a precious asset of our country. In order to meet the challenges of tomorrow, University is trying to provide professional education of very high standard in a better environment for our students. Pharmacy is a composite, elaborated, exciting profession and elemental part of the interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
